During the Christmas season, there will be some changes made to the usual Mass and confession schedule at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
The normal daily Mass schedule – 7:15 a.m. and noon -- will be followed Dec. 21-23. The noon Mass will be livestreamed on the diocesan website except for Dec. 23. Confessions will be heard 6:30-7 and 11:30-11:50 a.m. Dec. 21-23.
On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, confessions will be heard 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The vigil Mass for Christmas will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. This liturgy also will be livestreamed on the diocesan website. A choral concert will begin at 9:15 p.m., followed by the 10 p.m. Mass at night with Bishop Edward Malesic as celebrant.
On Christmas Day, Masses will be celebrated at 8 and 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. The 10:30 Mass will be livestreamed.
Bishop Malesic also can be seen celebrating a televised Mass at 10 a.m. Christmas Day on Channel 43 WUAB TV.
Dec. 26-30, daily Mass will be celebrated at 7:15 a.m. and noon. The noon liturgy will be livestreamed except on Dec. 26. Confessions will be heard 6:30-7 and 11:30-11:50 a.m. each weekday.
On Dec. 31, confessions will be heard 3-4 p.m. and the vigil Mass will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m.
The regular Mass schedule will be followed on Jan. 1, 2023, the solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God: 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., with the 10:30 Mass livestreamed on the diocesan website. There also will be a televised Mass at 10 a.m. on Channel 43 WUAB TV.
Confessions will be heard 6:30-7 and 11:30-11:50 a.m. Jan. 2-6, 2023, with Masses celebrated at 7:15 a.m. and noon. The noon Mass will be livestreamed except on Jan. 2.
Mass also is broadcast at 9 a.m. Sundays on radio station WINT 1330 AM and at 10:30 a.m. on radio station WCCR 1260 AM The Rock.
The cathedral office will be closed Dec. 22 through Jan. 2, 2023. Normal business hours – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday – will resume Jan. 3, 2023.
